Edminster-Bohner Whole House Renovation
 Perhaps
one of the most challenging types of high performance construction is
renovation. Getting the building science right as changes to existing
design and materials are considered requires systematic assessment of
individual and then collective changes. 3-D Building Solutions conducted
a comprehensive building assessment of the existing Edminster-Bohner
residence and then worked on integration of new design and materials
considerations with the owners and the architect and with key trades on
construction details. The result is a home with improved energy
efficiency (air and thermal barrier continuity and new heating system),
indoor air quality, combustion safety and water management of the
building enclosure; all done in the context of resource-efficiency and
