Professional Experience:
Steven Baczek is a registered architect with over sixteen years of
construction industry experience. His training and work in the
contracting trades have made him not only an architect with full respect
for how design gets expressed in the field, but an expert in building
technology as well. Steve utilizes his full-spectrum building
expertise in everything from design review and analysis to post
occupancy building investigations.
Steve’s “new construction” work as an Architect has included
healthcare, public housing, heavy industrial, and custom residential
projects. Many of Steve’s architectural projects have been Building
America demonstration projects, featuring a systems approach to building
durable, healthy, comfortable, energy efficient, and environmentally
responsible structures. His contributions on these projects have
included architectural design, engineering coordination, construction
document development, construction supervision, and project
administration. On many of these projects, Steve’s role went well
beyond that of the traditional architect, involving him in contractor /
subcontractor training sessions, performance testing, and building
commissioning.
Steve also has done extensive work in the areas of architectural
renovation and building systems re-engineering. On these projects his
responsibilities have included material / value engineering to enhance
the building’s performance, durability, and the health of its occupants.
Steve’s unique combination of design and field construction
experience has proven invaluable in numerous building investigations,
ranging from moisture/ rain intrusion to air quality and comfort
complaints to general durability failures. His work as a building
investigator then guides and shapes his subsequent design work.
Given Steve’s unique skill set, he frequently presents workshops
and training sessions on building technology at architectural offices,
regional production builder seminars, and national conferences on the
topics of advanced framing, building systems engineering and
integration, energy efficiency, durability, moisture management /
intrusion, comfort, occupant health, and environmental responsibility. |
